Jagannath Rath Yatra :
Ø   Location: Ratha Yatra is a Hindu festival associated with Lord Jagannath held at Puri in Odisha.
Ø   Origin: It is regarded as the oldest Ratha Yatra taking place in India whose descriptions can be found in Brahma Purana, Padma Purana, and Skanda Purana and Kapila Samhita.
Ø   When: This annual festival is celebrated on Ashadha Shukla Paksha Dwitiya (second day in bright fortnight of Ashadha month).
Ø   Objective: The festival commemorates Jagannath's annual visit to Gundicha Temple via Mausi Maa Temple (aunt's home) near Balagandi Chaka, Puri.
Festival highlights:
Ø As part of Ratha Yatra, the deities of Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra and younger sister Subhadra are taken out in a procession to Gundicha Temple, which is situated at a distance of 2-3 km from their temple.
Ø The deities remain there for nine days.
Ø Then the deities or Ratha Yatra return to the Main temple. The return journey of Puri Jagannath Ratha Jatra is known as Bahuda Jatra.
Ø Three richly decorated chariots, resembling temple structures, are pulled by devotees through the streets of Puri who consider this as an auspicious deed.


Annual Piracy Report :
Ø West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea has become the world’s most pirate-infested sea, with 72 attacks last year – up from 28 in 2014. This year so far it has recorded 30. 
Ø Elsewhere piracy is in decline. Between 2014 and 2018 the number of incidents each year in Southeast Asia fell from 141 to 60, and to just three off Somalia, which in 2007-12 faced this century’s worst piracy crisis. 


ICC-IMB? :
Ø The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) is a specialized department of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Ø The IMB's responsibilities lie in fighting crimes related to maritime trade and transportation, particularly piracy and commercial fraud, and in protecting the crews of ocean-going vessels.
Ø The bureau was founded in 1981
Ø it is endorsed by the UN's International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and has observer status with Interpol and a MOU with the World Customs Organization.

European Union (EU):
Ø European Commission Chief: German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen has been nominated as the first woman to become the European Commission Chief.
Ø European Central Bank chief: Chief of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde has been nominated as the first woman to head the European Central Bank.
Ø European Council President: Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel is nominated as European Council President.
Ø Foreign Policy Chief: Spain's Foreign Minister Josep Borrell is proposed as Foreign Policy Chief.
Ø President of the European Parliament: David-Maria Sassoli has been nominated as President of the European Parliament.
Ø Most of the roles must be ratified by Parliament.
