Aruna Sundararanjan committee :
Ø Mandate: To review levies, including spectrum usage charge (SUC), and promote ease of doing business in the telecom sector.
Ø Composition: The committee will be headed by Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan.
Ø Background:
·        The telecom sector has been undergoing financial stress for a long time.
·        The reduction of levies and fees, including licence fee, SUC and universal service levy, has been a long-standing demand of the industry, along with review of the definition of aggregated gross revenue


Ladakh Singhey Khababs Sindhu Festival :
Ø It is a tourist's promotional festival in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. 
Ø It is celebrated on the bank of Indus River at Leh.
Ø It is celebrated every year since 1997 for 3 days in the month of June. 
Ø Folk songs and dances are performed and local handicrafts and ethnic foods are being exhibited before the tourists during the festival


Go Tribal Campaign :
Ø Bodies involved: The campaign was launched by Tribal Affairs Ministry and TRIFED in association with Amazon Global. 
Ø Objective: The collaboration aims to create awareness and promote tribal arts and crafts as well as aid in socio-economic welfare of over 700 Indian tribes. 
Ø The event also saw the global Launch of “Tribes India” through Amazon Global Selling, under which Tribes India and Amazon Global Marketing will launch TRIBES India products globally through Amazon.com

Diphtheria:
Ø Cause: Diphtheria is an infectious disease caused by Corynebacterium diphtheria, a bacterium.
Ø Health impact: One type of diphtheria affects the throat and sometimes the tonsils. Another type causes ulcers on the skin; these are more common in the tropics (places where all 12 months have mean temperatures of at least 18 °C).
Ø Vulnerable groups: Diphtheria particularly affects children aged 1 to 5 years. In temperate climates diphtheria tends to occur during the colder months.
Ø Vaccine: The diphtheria vaccine is among the oldest vaccines in India’s Universal Immunisation Programme.

15 July – Current Affairs National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) : Ø The Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries recently told the Parliament that it has advised NDDB to “extend the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005 to its subsidiary companies including NDDB Dairy Services.” Ø Type: An Institution of National Importance set up by an Act of Parliament of India. CASE STUDY-1 Mihir is a new Panchayat secretary. Within few days he got a circular which said that he should soon conduct Grama Sabha to finalize the action plan of MGNREGA. Action plan contains the list of works to be undertaken in the villages and their estimated expenditures. This should be decided in the Grama Sabha and the decision of Gram Sabha is immutable. The Gram Sabha was held and chairman, all elected members, officer in-charge,engineer,  people from villages debated and finally listed important works to be undertaken and the estimated expenditure was decided there itself. Next, this plan had to be approved in the Panchayat meeting and sent to Tehsil for further approval for sanction of funds. The chairman of Panchayat, who was also a class-I contractor, met Mihir and asked him to manipulate the funds estimates.
