the Southern birdwing, is a large and striking swallowtail butterfly endemic to south India. With a wingspan of 140–190 mm, it is the second largest butterfly of India. It is listed as Least Concern in the IUCN Red List.
Tamil Yeoman
- Tamil Nadu has declared the Tamil Yeoman butterfly species as the state butterfly.
- It is also known as Tamil maravan which means warrior.
- It is endemic to Western Ghats
- Found in forest areas of Sri Lanka and India
- Tamil Yeoman is uniformly orange in colour with a dark brown outer ring.
