TRY NOT TO BECOME A MAN OF SUCCESS, BUT RATHER TRY TO BECOME A MAN OF VALUES

TRY NOT TO BECOME A MAN OF SUCCESS, BUT RATHER TRY TO BECOME A MAN OF VALUES

Rajat and Karan are participating in a college annual cycle race competition. During the race, Rajat kicked a boy who is leading in the race and he fell down and injured. Karan sees this misdeed of Rajat and stopped his cycle to help him. Rajat wins the competition. He is successful but he does have values like Karan who does not bother about winning or losing the game but gives more importance to help the needy person. Rajat gets the trophy but Karan wins the respect of people.

This incidence shows that success is important in life but values are much more needed in life to retain in success. Rajat might achieve great success in future, but he won’t be able to live happily due to lack of values in life. In this essay, we will discuss about meaning of success and human values and which is more important in human life.

Success has different meaning for different individuals. For some persons, success means to earn lot of money, have high profile job and have luxurious lifestyle. For some others, it means to have internal satisfaction by doing humanitarian works and to help others.

It might look like that persons with no moral and ethical values will achieve whatever he wants but that lifestyle and materialistic happiness is of short term. With money, person can buy anything and everything round every nook and corner of the world. But, money won’t be able to buy inner peace and eternal happiness. All this can only be achieved in life if people adopt values like honesty, integrity, humanity, truthfulness patience, respect.

Many a times we see that people with values might not be the successful. But they have many intangible aspects attached to their life  which is the ultimate source of happiness and satisfaction. Values help the person to get up even after the failure. He won’t feel depressed due to his failure of not achieving success and won’t  feel pride after accomplishing the goals. He will remain calm and composed even in the most tough times of his life.

Success without values causes emptiness and hollowness in a person’s life rather than giving them happiness. People earning hundreds of rupees a day are more cheerful and delighted than those working at top positions earning millions of rupees. He enjoys life with his family and limited facilities in his life. Whereas a billionaire cannot enjoy life with family and friends due to his stressful lifestyle.

Person having values is looked up by everyone. He is a role model for the society despite of his living standards and achievements in life. Maharana Pratap was a Rajput warrior who fought many battles against Mughal Emperor, Akbar. He never won any battle against Mughals. But he did not give hope and fought till his last breath. It was his love towards the country and motherland that empower him every time to challenge the huge Mughal army. His values and dedication made him one of the few warriors in history who never lie down their knees before Mughals. Success is only a temporary glory but values are permanent asset. It is the values of person that made him immortal and society always remember them with great respect.

APJ Abdul Kalam is another person who lived his entire life with values. He was never behind success or lavish lifestyle. Despite being the President of the country, he did not have any property. He dedicated his life for the nation. He lived his entire life in service of the nation and people. Due to his efforts, loyalty, devotion towards work and country, India got the status of nuclear power. Due to his great thoughts and values, he will always be respected by every Indian.

On the other hand, there are so many successful persons in the society but they completely forget their morality and humanity. Their main aim in life is to earn tons of money at any cost. They don’t hesitate to take life of any person for their own benefits. They have no loyalty towards their work and job, no respect for underpriviledged class and commit frauds to be successful. They prefer to take shortcuts in their life to achieve the goals. There are so many high class people who spent billions on their clothes and accessories, weddings and for partying, but don’t give a single penny to charity and well-being of the nation. This success is incomplete and of no use without values.
Amul is example of success and values can go side by side. Tribuhvandas Patel along with Sardar Vallabh bhai patel took initiative to end the sufferings of Gujarat farmers. It was their kind and helpful nature, their values that make their venture a huge success. Now, Amul is one the biggest brand of India but they still do not forget their human values and made no compromise with quality to make more profits.

But in this materialistic world, where everyone is behind brands and glory, it is very difficult to retain your values. Even the society compels the person to give up their values if they are a barrier on the way to become successful. This is actually the true test of person. The person who does not forget the teachings of their parents, teachers and elders in the tough times of life, that person can achieve everything and become exceptional successful person.

If we compromise with our values to get ahead in life, we will not be successful in any of the ventures. Values will bring miraculous change in the life of not only that person but in the entire world. It is very important to retain, cultivate and nurture the values in life to take the intellectual decisions for a holistic development.

Success is a fruit that tastes sweet when it has soil of values and manure of hard work.

Only those who can deliver should rule

Only those who can deliver should rule “ The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” In a political system when we say “Only those who can deliver should rule ”, there are some questions that comes to our mind that are:  1. What is to be delivered? 2. Who can deliver? 3. Who will check the delivery? 4. Who should rule?  These questions carry different perspectives as the answers to each one of them can be different for different persons. So, without thinking of arriving at a consensus, we should examine different aspects of each of the questions separately. What is to be delivered? ● Priorities are different for different people. ➔Our society contains a vast number of people having different  interests and needs.
